Amidst the most dangerous neighborhood in Masiphumelele, a town in Cape Town, a coastal city found in South Africa, a violin club has found a way to provide a good pastime activity for children. The three-hour class that the Masiphumelele Music Outreach holds at the local center every week is enough to keep the kids away from trouble. But more than that they were able to learn a lot about music and play the violin.
The program was founded in 2011 by Tita Blake who is a violin teacher. Their targets are students who came from the informal Masiphumelele settlement nearby who has a population of 40,000 people.
